Earth Day Celebrations:
Recycle, Repurpose, Reuse: Making Paper Beads: Great ways to recycle old magazines and other paper into new art. Basic techniques for making paper beads for jewelry, beaded curtains and more. Cost: $10 per adult; child (age 8 or older) with paying adult, $5, 1 hour, materials included.

Introduction to Wicca and Witchcraft. Modern Pagan Witchcraft, often known as Wicca, is a dynamic balance of worship and magic.  Emerging from the Western Esoteric Tradition in the middle of the twentieth century, the Craft roots itself firmly in the sacredness of the natural world.  Ian Phanes has been a Witch since 1987. Cost: $20 preregistered; $25 at the door.

Drum Circle & Bellydancing: Beads N Botanicals Boneyard Festival Events


BEADS N’ BOTANICALS Boneyard Arts Festival Events:

Sat, April 17, 2-3:30pm: “Rattle the Boneyard:  A Community Drum Circle,” bring drums, rattles or other musical instruments to participate

Sat 3:30-4:30pm: Trikhala, a bellydance troupe made up of UIUC graduate and undergraduate students, will perform choreographed and improv bellydance pieces. The group’s Tribal Fusion dance style mixes American tribal-style bellydance with elements of traditional ethnic bellydance and contemporary dance styles such as hip hop. 

Artisans include:  Athan Chilton: lampworked beads, Karen Gottlieb: Inspirational Collage, Angela Graveline: acrylic painting, Evelyne Tardy: Mandela paintings, Jean Nonman: handcrafted wooden boxes, Marlita Hasbargen: Dream catchers, Smudge feathers, & paper bead jewelry, Tara Allen: Photography, Vicki Brown: jewelry 

Originally Athan Chilton was supposed to demonstrate lampworking beads, however, a broken foot has put her "out of the running" so to speak. We are hoping to schedule a demonstration in the future when she is physically up to it.
